Valliant century by Abhishek Yadav went in vain as Odisha lost to host Jharkhand by 11 runs on the fourth and last day of their C K Nayudu Trophy U-23 Plate Group B match at BSL Cricket Stadium in Bokaro today. Chasing 224 for victory, Odisha came tantalizingly close to the target before being all out for 212 in the second innings. Yadav waged a lone battle before he was the last man out for a beligirent 113. He faced 206 balls and hit 13 fours and two sixes. Monu Kumar bagged six wickets for the winners.
Earlier, Odisha conceded a first-innings lead of 27 runs by getting all out for 148, in reply to 175 by host Jharkhand, who were put into bat by Odisha skipper Ankit Yadav. Sonu Kumar Singh was the wrecker in chief of Odisha innings, bagging eight wickets for 45 runs. Jharkhand made 196 in the second innings.
With this win, their fourth in five matches, Jharkhand finished at the top of the group table with 26 points, while Odisha ended fifth with four points. Odisha lost three of their five matches and drew the remaining two.
